Rolleston On Dove

Despite its name, the village does not lie on the River Dove, but on a small tributary called the Alderbrook. This provides a most attractive setting in the village centre. The willow-lined brook, with its brick wall and ornamental piers and footbridges is reminiscent of Cotswold country.

The Spread Eagle Hotel, just by the main bridge, perpetuates the memory of the Mosley family who came here in 1614 and whose heraldic arms incorporate a spread eagle as the main device.
