Snibston
Set in the heart of the National Forest, Snibston is a must for visitors wanting to explore a wealth of science, technology and heritage-related exhibits whilst enjoying an exciting, leisurely day out.
Housing a number of interactive galleries, an historic theatre, iconic colliery buildings and the largest fashion gallery outside London, the museum can provide a great day out whether your 5 or 95!
People of all ages will enjoy the hands-on-exhibits with the chance to lift a real mini, make fire or experiment with sustainable energy, whilst younger visitors will be delighted by the outdoor adventure play, science play and Wild Water, a system of locks, pumps and water wheels.
Those with a love of transport and engineering will not be disappointed and there is the opportunity to meet a former Leicestershire miner on one of our fascinating *Colliery tours.
Guests can complete their day by browsing in the extensively-stocked shop or by relaxing with cake and coffee in the Snibston café. For nature lovers the vast country park, adjacent to the museum, provides a wildlife haven waiting to be discovered.
Free to enter Country Park with nature reserve, arboretum and meadow.
*Colliery tours are available on selected dates for the public. Visitors should call ahead or visit www.snibston.com/ for dates. Prebookable colliery tours are available for groups and school visits.
